Successful Harvest at Salli Kaadu: A Traditional Approach

The rice paddy across various plots of land is now ready for harvesting. After careful consideration, it was decided to begin with Salli Kaadu, the largest plot, as there is no rain forecast for the coming week. Although there had been no recent rainfall, the soil remained too wet for the use of the harvesting machine. As a result, we resorted to the traditional method of hand cutting, a more labor-intensive and costlier process, but the only feasible option under the circumstances.

To tackle this, we hired a dedicated harvesting team of 10 people. The team started work in the early hours of the morning, following a small pooja to bless the harvest with success. The harvesting and sifting process continued until early evening. Despite the additional effort required, by the end of the day, all the paddy had been successfully cut, sifted, and bagged, ready for sale.

In addition, the residual haystack was sold on the same day, which not only spared us from the need to store it but also helped maximize the value of the harvest.

While the traditional method demanded more time and effort, the outcome was highly successful, and we are pleased with the results. This harvest serves as a reminder of the importance of adaptability in farming, and we continue to prioritize quality and efficiency, even when faced with unforeseen challenges.
